This week I’m reading Dreyer’s English by Random House copy chief Benjamin Dreyer, who if you don’t already follow on Twitter deserve’s your attention. More than just a style guide, Dreyer presents an invaluable resource wrapped in humor and realism. Consider it the un-stuffy author’s handbook to good grammar.
This week’s read is Coyote Songs by Gabino Iglesias. I found Coyote Songs thanks to my Twitter author network and sped through it in one fevered sitting. It is the rare work of truly exciting and electric terror that is both disgusting and beautiful in all the right ways. Most importantly, it is a sincere exploration of culture and otherness that is achingly relevant in our society today.
